99-The Effect of True Love

The Effect of True Love

By Carlton Foster – December 19, 2025

“Love can refer to a wide range of human affections, including friendly attachment, sexual intimacy, maternal tenderness, romantic love, and loyalty to God.” (https://ssnet.org/lessons/25d/less12.html#thu)  These responses to a love in action are the natural effect of the action of love. They were scientifically created to associate with the actions of love. The opposite of love also has natural responses (hate, disgust, disappointments, hurt, sin, etc). Let’s look at some aspects of these responses in objects around us.

There are many natural, observable examples  that beautifully reinforce the idea that love produces attraction, harmony, and life, while its opposite produces separation, resistance, and decay.

Two magnet Bars.

Two magnet bars, both with north and south poles polarities. We know that when the north pole of one magnet approaches closer to the south pole of the other magnet, the attraction force is stronger. This is by nature the response of this action – this is similar to true love in action. But when the same poles (south or north) get closer to the other magnet (with the same pole), they repel each other. This also is the natural action, which is similar to sin.

Jesus came to repolarize us, Matthew recorded it in Matthew 5:43-48, “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy, but I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that, but you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

Gravity: Attraction Is Not Forced—It Is Natural.

Gravity does not argue, persuade, or coerce. It simply draws objects together according to their nature and mass. When an object is released, it naturally falls toward the earth. No law has to be announced; no force has to be threatened. God’s love does not coerce obedience. When the heart is aligned with Him, it is naturally drawn toward Him. “I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love.” (Hosea 11:4). Sin is just like resisting gravity, it requires constant effort. It is unnatural to our created design.

Light and Plants: Growth Is the Natural Response to Love.

Plants naturally bend toward light – a process called phototropism, and when the plant obeys, the light brings it energy; the energy produces growth, and growth produces fruit.  No plant has to be taught to seek the sun. When the soul is exposed to God’s love and truth, growth happens naturally.  John said,  “God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5); also “Abide in Me… he who abides in Me bears much fruit.” (John 15:4 to 5). Sin is like placing the plant in darkness. Isaiah said, “Your iniquities have separated you from your God.” (Isaiah 59:2). The result is not punishment—it is withering.

Sound and Resonance: Harmony Responds to Harmony.

In physics, a tuning fork will cause another tuning fork of the same frequency to vibrate—even across a room. No contact is needed; no command is given; the resonance responds to resonance.  A heart aligned with God responds naturally to His Spirit. John said, “My sheep hear my voice.” (John 10:27). Sin changes the “frequency” of the heart, making harmony impossible—not because God rejects us, but because we are no longer tuned to Him, so we experienced more noise, confusions and hostilities.

Health and the Body: Alignment Brings Peace.

When the human body is in balance, blood pressure stabilizes, hormones regulate, and healing accelerates. However, when the body is not balanced, we experience chronic stress, hatred, bitterness, and fear which literally damage the body. Science confirms what Scripture has always taught: “A merry heart does good, like medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22), Love aligns the inner life with God’s design, but sin introduces internal conflict—spiritual diseases.

Clean Water vs. Pollution: Purity Sustains Life.

Clean water sustains ecosystems effortlessly; when this is possible, we notice that fishes thrive, plants flourish, and life multiplies. When we introduce toxins, the system collapses, not because water is cruel, but because pollution is incompatible with life.  God’s law is not arbitrary; it is life-preserving. “I have set before you life and death… therefore choose life.” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Sin is the separation from God’s law; it is spiritual pollution and the natural result of death.

Conclusion

When we try to put Godly actions and Satanic actions together, or try to exclude Godly actions from our lives, we enter into sin and a repulsion from God is the natural response of our sinful actions. That is why Jesus came to help us to change our mental attitudes, change our polarities so that we can be drawn closer to God and experience the effects of love (in action).

The magnet illustration shows that attraction is built-in, not forced, but repulsion is also a natural consequence, not a punishment. Therefore, our polarity must change for evangelism and attraction to occur: good must attract and conquer evil. Jesus does not drag us to God; he changes our hearts so that coming to God becomes natural.  “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” (Ezekiel 36:26).  We see from nature that God’s love produces attraction by design, but sin produces separation by nature. God does not change – we do. Christ restores and aligns us to be the light of the world, not by force, but by transformation.
